“light study” is an extended, abstract meditation on the expressive possibilities of pure image-making. The study deconstructs the elements of photography to form individual bands of material, collage, and express nature with light and scratch on paper. The cameraless images are commenting on the interaction qualities of both the form and content; lacking any figurative or narrative imagery, they draw the legacy of Color nature Painting, and pure abstraction into photography.
